Surrey Woodlands route to Bookham
Meet Twickenham Riverside by Eel Pie bridge 10.15. We head south crossing Littleworth Common, and Esher Common to Cobham and then a path across open fields and wooded Bookham Common After a pub lunch we return taking in Oxshott Heath and Princes Coverts.
Eight of us met up on a sunny but fresh Twickenham Riverside. After heavy traffic at Hampton Court we were tolerant of some mud in the quiet off-road paths through scenic woodland to Cobham where we were rewarded by quiet tarmac. After crossing the Mole someone remarked that we seem to have gone back 50 years; the roads were so quiet. Lunch stop at the Old Windsor Castle – a bit of an up-market slide since last year but good quality food and no quibbles about people eating packed lunch in the garden. Back by about 3ish.
